Dos And Donts Good Sensible Advice
Here we list some general guidelines, they are mainly common-sense and sensiblemeasures to take in order to look and feel good.
IMPORTANT DO'S
- Drink plenty of water – 5 pints a day will help keep your body and skin fully hydrated.
- Get exposure to the outside air everyday, sunlight is important to your overall mental and
physical health.
- Get some mental exercise by reading, doing crosswords, playing games or holding conversations
on subjects of interest.
- Get some physical exercise - forget the gym, walking, swimming and gardening are all great for
your health.
- Get a pet, they are a great stress reliever and do wonders for you with there unquestioning love
and affection.
- Make time for yourself – all too often women run around after others at the expense of their own
needs.
- Get your eyes tested every 2 years once over 50.
- Do get 8 hours sleep every night and yes, your Granny knew best – an hour before midnight is
always better (we evolved to sleep through the hours of darkness).
- When damp from a shower or bath rub all over with skin or baby oil (available from Boots or
Avon) to lock in the moisture.
IMPORTANT DON’TS
- DO NOT SMOKE – nothing apart from getting run over by a bus will do your health and
appearance as much damage.
- Don’t drink too much coffee or alcohol, both have a dehydrating effect on your skin and body.
- Don’t suffer prolonged stress. Whatever it is making you unhappy, resolve it quickly.
- Don’t sunbathe to excess – if you burn, you are seriously damaging your skin.
- Do not use soap, only a mild cleanser such as “Dove”.
- Do not use any cleansers or toners containing alcohol.
- Never use talcum powder – it absorbs natural moisture & oils from your skin.
- Do not use anti-dandruff shampoos – after washing just once with a mild
shampoo rinse your hair in luke-warm water with a small amount of vinegar
added.
- Don’t buy so-called “miracle” products at extortionate prices they are no
better than reliable brands such as “Boots” or our own, available at a
fraction of the cost.
- Do not take prescription drugs unnecessarily (especially steroids &
anti-biotics) all drugs have unwanted side effects so only take what your
doctor says are necessary.
